From drawing as a hobby to children’s picture book illustrator: My Journey and a Gift for You

I had no idea where this journey would take me when I started.

In 2020, I unboxed a new iPad and decided to try out Procreate. After a quick doodle, I found it confusing and closed the app, setting it aside for another two years.

By 2022, I found myself needing something to occupy my time while being nap trapped on the sofa, with my son asleep in my arms. I picked up my iPad again and started drawing on Procreate every night.

I took online tutorials, learned art fundamentals, and gradually found my style. In February 2022, I posted my first piece on Instagram. To my surprise, it wasn’t long before I received my first paid commission, followed by several more. I began creating stickers and art prints, all while juggling a part-time job and caring for my son.

Fast forward to August 2023, a publisher discovered my work on Instagram and offered me a book illustration project. I jumped at the chance!

Shortly after, I welcomed my daughter and began working on my first book project. Now, nearly a year later, that project is coming to an end, and I already have another lined up. My portfolio is growing intentionally, and I’m still creating while nap trapped on the sofa with my daughter.

I’ve learned a lot in the last two years. Countless hours of practice have led to art that I am truly proud of, and now I want to help you achieve the same.

That’s why I’ve put together a free PDF filled with tips to improve your illustrations. These are just a few things I’ve learned along the way that I wish I had known when I started. It’s my gift to you!

Stay inspired, keep creating, and never underestimate where your journey might take you.
